The seminar will rapidly, in a very interactive manner, veer into addressing all aspects of moving abroad with a family.

• Do’s and don’ts to ensure success, and to avoid going to jail …
• Securing commitments with your employer on must-have topics prior to leaving.
• Moving; lodging; school registration; banking; work permits; kids, trailing spouse; pets; paperwork; making friends; activities; shipping versus buying local; expat communities;
• Cultural awareness; tips to better understand the locals; tips to better understand yourself in a foreign environment.
• Preparing for an emergency; repatriation, separation from family due to safety.
• Preparing the next assignment or the one ten years from now.

The author defines himself as a professional nomad.
He will draw on successfully moving with his extended family on all five continents, notching over 30 moves and learning two foreign languages in the process.

In the extended version of the class, specific cases encountered by participants will be covered and discussed with emphasis on the significant role of the trailing spouse.
