Cultural Understanding of USA Inc.

Synthesis

A massive amount of theoretical work is available on cross-cultural integration addressing differences between people and nationalities.

The studies cover well known aspects of relationship to authority, to time, to the collective etc.

This class takes a somewhat irreverent approach to what it means to be US-American.

The material analyzes historical and national atavism and provides tools to interpret unwritten codes and behavioral cues.

It goes into specific aspects that, when misinterpreted, can upset a relationship starting out with the best intentions.

A similar class was initially developed to help North American employees of a Paris-based international corporation.

The material covered will dig deeper into the Franco-American interactions. American sports will also be discussed.

The author was raised in both the French and North American systems (languages, culture, education, moves to Alberta, California, Colorado, Texas).
He will draw on a lifetime experience outside of France to drive home simple notions to make your cross-cultural relationship a success.

In the extended version of the class, specific cases encountered by participants will be covered and discussed.
