teaching

-Structural Geology ; September 1975 – December 1976 ; Petroleum Institute of Algeria (Institut Algérien du Pétrole), BOUMERDES, ALGERIA – 2nd year : lectures, tutorials and field trips.

-Seismic Stratigraphy: 1986- 1992 ; Elf EP, PAU – 1 week training courses including lectures and tutorials .

-« Mentoring » : 2004-2016 ; TOTAL Paris / Norway / UK / The Netherlands – during these years I managed several teams of Geologists and Geophysicists and spent as much time as possible working on the work stations to make sure that the interpretations were robust and to define drillable prospects.

-Conferences:

-Speaker at AAPG ICE, Milan – Italy October 2011: The Hild Field Norway.

-Key note speaker at VIII Petroleum Geology Conference, London – UK; September 2015: UK North Sea Post well analyses

-Speaker at PESGB evening lecture, Aberdeen – UK; 20th October 2015

Activities

I started my career as a well site geologist (French Aquitaine Basin and Rio del Rey Basin in Cameroon). Then I carried out the petroleum syntheses of some key basins reviewing all the key elements which are compulsory for an effective hydrocarbon generation : these elements include the structural framework, the paleogeographic reconstructions and the main results of the organic geochemistry analyses. Then I have been a seismic stratigrapher for 5 years interpreting (mostly in 2D and on paper) seismic data using Peter Vail’s concepts. This key stage allowed me to become an Explorer and I created, validated and managed to have the best prospects drilled. Several of these turned to be commercial discoveries. During the last 2 years with the UK Government at the O&G Authority I carried out post well analyses of~100 exploration wells in the Moray Firth and Central Graben and I completed the West of Shetland prospect inventory.
