Industrial site restitution
Synthesis
In order to satisfy their need in energy and / or to valorize their underground, the countries entrust the oil Companies to prospect and produce their hydro carbure.Depending on the size of reservoir, fluid, severity of the sea conditions, and water depth plus or minus complicated and large infrastructure have to be installed. The exploitation of huge North Sea hydrocarbon field started in the seventies. These first conventional reservoir fields have now reached their end of production and their decommissioning processus has started.
The first big field decommissionned in North Sea and in the world too was Frigg operated by TOTAL Norge
This course on Industrial site restitutution / Decommissioning is mainly based on Frigg Field and its associated pipelines. It introduces as well the current main decom events in the North sea on Ekofisk field operated by Connoco and Statfjord operated by Statoil and finally it introduces the anticipation for the future site restitutions of unconventional reservoir field as bituminous sand.
