Industrial Risk Management (on shore petrochemical site) by Inspection methods

Synthesis

Introduction to the method of Risk Management by Inspection:-Introduction : Industrial risks : Safety, Environment, loss of production-Sources of risk : corrosion, pumps failures, external damages : presentation of statistics on “safety” accidents, or accident with big loss of production…
-Consequences : leaks, fire, pollution, brand image, loss of production,…
Calculation of Consequences of failure:
-How do we calculate consequence of failure for each equipment? Detail of calculation of the area of damage (fire damage, explosion, toxicity area,…).
-How do we calculate probability of failure?” Limite state equation” and Bayesian approach with last inspection results

Goal of the method : optimize inspection actions, know and manage our risk on industrial sites.
-Example of a typical refinery unit is presented and is used to show where are the risks and what do we need to do to keep them at a reasonable level

Comparison between old method and new method about our knowledge of risk and our inspection costs.

Benefits, harms and costs : How much does it cost to apply this method, How much does it save? Who can apply this process ? (Inspector? Engineer ? Corrosionist ? Cost saver ?)
