Audience type

Students in geology and geophysicsStudents in reservoir engineeringStudents in petroleum and production engineeringAll students dedicated to oil and gas industry who want to understand where seismic data came from and how they are interpreted to extract valuable information that can help them in their future activities

Planned duration

5 days of a duration of 4 hours per day are recommended.

Support material

Print-out of selected slides with 4 slides per pages. No digital files will be provided.

Prerequisite

The course is dictated in English and good understanding of this language is required.Basic knowledge in geophysics are recommended.

Objectives

In hydrocarbon exploration seismic techniques became the most important tools for improving geological models either in structural or in stratigraphic aspects. They also provide access to better reservoir characterisation for improving recovery. The course is an overview of hydrocarbon exploration starting with the petroleum system, going through seismic foundations then understanding shot point image and going to structural and stratigraphy interpretation.
