Energy Policies : Fundamentals + Case Study

Synthesis

This course is composed of 4 modules:
1-A lecture part (3x3h-duration to adapt according to level of students) recalling the fundamentals of Energy policies: Global Energy Demand, Energy Mix, GHG emissions and Energy Independence. During this part the IEA’s global scenarios, their impact in terms of Greenhouse Gas emissions and the necessary resources to mobilize will be presented.
2-A 3h tutorial module where students model possible actions to limit the carbon footprint at worldwide level and measure its impact (use of the EN Roads – MIT model).
3-Project sessions (3x3h) where students assess the Energy scheme of a country in sub-groups: analysis of the past, future commitments (NDC), evaluation and costing of possible alternatives.
4-A session where students present the results of the project sessions (3 hours).
