An introduction to applied fluid mechanics
Synthesis
This course is an introduction to the problems of the fluid mechanics applied .Chapter A-1 treats the calculation of the head losses in pipes. Chapter A-2 relates to the flows in the convergent-divergent nozzles and in particular the conditions of a blocked flow according to the ratio upstream/downstream pressures, as well as the conditions of appearance of shock waves.
Chapter A-3 is more theoretical and concerns the people interested with a deepening in the study of the fluid mechanics.
Chapter A-4 is an introduction to the fluid mechanics applied to aeronautics.
The list of topics below is provided as a rough guide only. Each topic can be abridged or addressed in more depth to suit the audience’s request .
A-1: Internal flows of a viscous fluid:
– laminar, turbulent flows
– Reynolds number .
– pressure losses on line, pressure drop due to friction and minor losses (series, parallels pipes).
