2D/3D Seismic Geomorphology Course Application to Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production

Synthesis

The objective of this course is to present 2D and 3D seismic geomorphology methodology focused on the characterization of depositional environments. This new methodology is link with the impressive development of the 3D seismic in the recent years, both in term of quality of the surveys as well as quantitatively, because surveys are now often available during the exploration stage.Like the conventional geomorphology devoted to landscape analysis in continental setting, seismic geomorphology is dealing to analyze landscapes and seascapes with the major advantage to look like how landscapes evolve trough time; what geomorphologists often dream to do onshore.
Starting from an historical perspective, and taking into account that landscapes evolve trough time, it appears necessary to refresh background on sequence stratigraphy. Then we will review picking methodology as well as amplitude extraction using the Total Corporate Software (Sismage ©)
The main part of the course is devoted to perform an inventory of both Clastic and Carbonates depositional systems from the continent to the deep water in order that seismic interpreters dealing with amplitude maps have in mind the background and an image catalog in order to properly interpret the environments and the associated sandbodies.
The course will continuously refers to satellite images, seabeams images as well as all types of seismic derived cubes.
The course will include lectures practical application as well as software examples
