Health: a key stakeholder of the Company.
There can be no successful operations without the assurance for employees that they—and their families if any—will be rescued and cared for a sickness or an incident.
If health has no price, it does have a cost—more or less significant depending on the job or the subsidiary— but workplace accident or impact of an epidemic (EVD, COVID-19) can entail a far higher cost: shareholder disengagement.
There is a strong willingness on the part of companies to implement a health policy led by suitably qualified professionals.
According to WHO, “health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and does not consist solely of the absence of disease or infirmity.”
Health results from a set of endogenous and exogenous determinants: the physical and social environment, lifestyle, the work environment, healthcare systems, etc.
It is a fundamental component of sustainable development, which aims to meet the development needs and health of present generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own.
Risk prevention in the workplace should aim not only to reduce, as much as possible, the occurrence of environmental and occupational accidents, but also to ensure the well-being of every employee while considering local communities.

To allow the Company for fulfilling its commitment to expatriates, natives and outsourced staff, International Medicine of a Company takes place round the clock for the tertiary Prevention and Treatment that consist to treat or mitigate the effects of a sickness, an accident or an epidemic considering the environment, the sanitary risks, and the Medical offering in a country where a company operates.
This leads to design a taking charge matrix to optimize the Free Window Treatment ( FWT) that is considered as the maximum admitted duration before the definitive treatment and then permitting to the patient to be evacuated towards the closest and adapted medical organization. This FWT is highly liaised to the medical environment of the operational locations (seismic, drilling, construction, exploitation etc. ): the qualification of Health Care Specialists of whom the number is adjusted to the staff strength, risks, number of first aiders, equipment and the duration to reach the enough closest medically equipped organizations.
Mismanagement of the rescuing support may have a major psychologic impact on the whole Staff Strength and subsequently on operations. The problem is different in the middle of the desert, offshore or in a big city. Shareholders disengagement can be very fast.
