Offshore Drilling: Techniques and Activities

This IW was part of KazNU Al-Fârâbî Summer School. Large « Opening Ceremony » of this Summer School was performed the first day. Good organisation. Prof. Marcellin Guillemin and his Assistant. Aloua and Galiya were present every day. Attendance list filled every day. Timing (from 9:00 to 12:30) was respected. Classroom : large enough, equiped with PC, screen (may be too small), speakers; blackboard with chalks. Students : more than 60 registered, but an average attendance of 45. Students were coming from miscelleaneous Universities of Almaty. Academic levels (BsC ? MsC ?) and background studies were not communicated. Level of english was correct, no problem of communication, many questions for technical clarifications. The TPA-Test : only 33 participants (16 girls + 17 boys); test performed with closed book but students worked in binomes. – The results : see Excel-sheet attached – The average mark 52/100 is somewhat disappointing, half of the participants with weak marks (less than 60/100). – Two students Karimova Marzhan and Sarbas Zhambyl got very good marks : 89/100 Certificates of Attendance will be given by the University. A large « Closing Ceremony » (with the presence of P. Breant and many Officials) was performed at the end of this Summer School. I want to thank TOTAL Kazakhstan – P. Breant, Danyar, Aloua and Galiya for their assistance and help during my stay in Almaty. Also thank Aloua and Galiya for the nice tour they organised for TPA-Profs at the end of the Summer School.
